Fox Block Foundation Walls - The Bargain EP 3

Fifteen years ago, my husband made me a bargain - If I'd live in rural Alaska, someday we'd build our dream home.  Someday is finally here!  You can follow along on our forever home build here.

Last week, we dug down four feet to get below the Alaska frost line.  This week, we've got to come back up with our foundation walls.

The easiest, fastest, best way we've found to do foundation walls is with ICF foam blocks.  ICF is short for Insulated Concrete Forms.  ICF buildings are energy-efficient, environmentally-friendly, sustainable, quiet and comfortable. They create a building envelope with superior results that resists harmful mold, dust and allergens, along with powerful wind, storm and fire damage.  All in one easy step!

This time around, we used Fox Blocks and loved how they are reversible, meaning you can flip them around and use any way you need to - allowing you to use up more scrap blocks, ultimately saving you time and money.  We also loved that the blocks don't shrink when poured in concrete, so that saves a huge step and helps us build the foundation to the perfect height, without having to estimate for shrinkage.  Make sure you go check out Fox Blocks now!  It is indeed quite a clever way to build a foundation.

We will see you next week with the big slab pour.

Have a great weekend!
