I'm hoping to whip a couple of these out for Christmas presents, but I think there would be an easier way. I'm not familiar with the bolts they each recommend so that's one area of question. I also have a Kreg Jig so I'm thinking that I could join the boards easier than either of these plans do even if I need to use a little wider board to do so. I have some heavy strapping and I like the way the Lowes plan has the screw and washer to attach the strapping b/c it looks really sturdy. Am I wrong in thinking I could just skip the side braces and cut both the top and bottom at the same angles? Some suggestions/help with this project?
