drawer slides ?

Submitted by natasha on Mon, 07/25/2011 - 09:48

Hi I don't know where to post this question?

I've made a few things now so I'm not a total newb, but I want to ask before cutting....

I want to make a dresser but want to add slides, how do I make the drawer part the right size to fit the dresser,... with the slides? does that make sense ??
if not I'll try to clarify ?

thanks Natasha

check the specs on the drawer slides. if you're using blum drawer slides, there are very specific instructions on how to size the drawer to fit the space and give you enough room to mount the drawer slides.

If you don't have specs from the manufacturer, you can get a good estimate by measuring the thickness of the slide. You'll need to deduct that width from both sides.

are they epoxy undermounts? those are the most common ones and i'll bet they probably use blum dimensioning. google it because this site won't let me post a link and if it is, the width of the drawer box is basically 1" LESS than the drawer opening width. if you look for blum 230 instructions you should be able to pull up complete specs.
