Question about painting before assembling

I'm getting ready to build the Playhouse Loft Bed this weekend and I had a question. I was planning on cutting all my wood, painting, drilling all the holes, then assembling and touching up the paint. Is there any reason this is a bad order? My reason for drilling after I paint is because I have the wood and paint right now but I'm not able to get my drill until after payday and I really want this to be ready for my son for Christmas. I just don't want the paint the dull the drill bits or anything like that. If any of you experienced builders could give me your opinions it would be greatly appreciated!

There's no problem with painting before assembly, but don't paint anyplace where you'll be gluing. Glue won't bond with paint and the joint won't hold.
