How do I attach the book holder to the wall

So, this weekend, I built the Flat Wall Book Holder (http://ana-white.com/2009/11/plan-collector-shelf-knock-off-of_11.html) for my daughter's room, but now I am not sure how to secure it to the wall. Can someone help me.

Hi,

There are lots of different ways but the easiest is probably just to put screws through the back panel and into anchors in the wall. If your home has stud walls then you need to use drywall plugs/drywall anchors, which most DIY stores sell. I always go for the metal ones as the plastic ones are rubbish. I checked on Home Depot (guessing you're in the US) and they sell something called "E-Z Ancor Stud Solver #7 x 1-1/4 in. Zinc-Plated Alloy Flat-Head Phillips Anchors with Screws (20-Pack)", which look perfect to me.

Here's what to do:
1) drill two holes (about 4mm or 5/32) through the back panel of the shelf - one each end (you could add a third hole in the middle if you've got some heavy books but 2 should be enough)
2) put the shelf against the wall (check it's level) where you want it and make a mark on the wall (through the holes) using a pencil, small screwdriver or drill bit
3) Put a drywall anchor in at each mark
4) Screw the shelf on....

Disclaimer: this will not hold the weight of a child doing pull-ups ;)

Hope that helps.
