Why I Started This Site

Twenty years ago, we started our first home in rural Alaska. We needed furniture – but design choices were limited and budgets were tight. So I learned to use a few simple tools, designed basic plans that didn't require fancy tools or advanced techniques, and started building my own furniture. In 2009, I started sharing my plans online.

Since then, I've shared thousands of free furniture plans, helped launch the modern DIY furniture movement, and inspired millions of people around the world to build their own furniture pieces – one project at a time.
