Suggestions needed: how to modify chunky bed frame for boxspring?

I am planning on building an upholstered bed using Ana's chunky leg bed frame plan. I would like to use my box spring and need suggestions on how to modify the plans. I see this was done here but I can't really tell what was done. We have a split box spring that is 9" tall, so I will probably need to use 1x10's or 1x12's. Can anyone help me with how to modify this plan to support the weight of two people, a mattress and box spring?

I would build a simple frame 1/2" wider and longer then the size of your box spring using 2x3's or 2x4's.  The extra 1/2" gives you somewhere to tuck sheets into. Change the center support to a double 2x3 or 2x4 and put a two additional legs under it to carry some of the extra weight.  Put the 1x10's or 1x12's around the frame flush with the bottom edge. Add plenty of screws. You won't need any slats, the box spring will handle that just fine.
