Easy starter project anyone can build. Simple 2x4 construction.

First I love this site so I have gotten so many great ideas... I'm loving Sketchup too so if you haven't tried you should... It's easy and awesome to create before you build.

I needed a simple bed for my son and came up with this... Only uses (5) 2x4's and (1) 1x6 and (2) 1x4x8's for what you see in the photo... The side rails I would use 2x6 but I didn't have any on hand and figured I would try spanning that distance (75" inches) with a 2x4... If I see it's a problem I could always add another 2x4 below if needed?...

For the slats to hold the mattress... I am probably going to use 2x4's but I think I could get by with 1x4...

For the mission style slats on the headboard and footboard... I started with a 2x6 dead center... 1" spaces between boards... Then a 1x4 and then I ripped a 1x4 in two and then another 1x4...

For the joinery I used all pocket screws...

General Instructions

Please read through the entire plan and all comments before beginning this project. It is also advisable to review the Getting Started Section. Take all necessary precautions to build safely and smartly. Work on a clean level surface, free of imperfections or debris. Always use straight boards. Check for square after each step. Always predrill holes before attaching with screws. Use glue with finish nails for a stronger hold. Wipe excess glue off bare wood for stained projects, as dried glue will not take stain. Be safe, have fun, and ask for help if you need it. Good luck!

Finishing Instructions
Preparation Instructions
Fill all holes with wood filler and let dry. Apply additional coats of wood filler as needed. When wood filler is completely dry, sand the project in the direction of the wood grain with 120 grit sandpaper. Vacuum sanded project to remove sanding residue. Remove all sanding residue on work surfaces as well. Wipe project clean with damp cloth.

It is always recommended to apply a test coat on a hidden area or scrap piece to ensure color evenness and adhesion. Use primer or wood conditioner as needed.

I need to make two of these. Are there any more detailed plans? I only see the general and finishing instructions. Maybe I am just not looking in the right spot as I am fairly new to this site. I can probably figure out the rest but I'm in a time crunch and was hoping for easier directions to follow. Also, is this bed designed for box springs as well as the mattress? Thanks.

I just purchased all of the wood to build this plan and I came home and the detailed plan is gone. Where is it?! This is extrememly upsetting...
