Flip top entry bench

I adjusted the width and height to fit our entryway needs, both otherwise it's the same bench. By fortuitous mistake, I misjudged the wood needed for the bottom shelf after making the adjustments (forgetting that for some reason when lumber is called 1" it's actually 3/4"). Rather than eat the cost of more oak, I decided to make the bottom into slats rather than one continuous piece. It actually worked out better, in my opinion, because then dirt from shoes falls onto the floor and can be vacuumed easily. After several failed attempts, I enlisted my husband to do the bench hinges :)
