2x4 Adirondack Chair Plans for Home Depot DIH Workshop

About Project

This is the easiest to build and sturdiest adirondack chair.  Also inexpensive because the frame is all 2x4s.  Plans designed by Ana-White.com

Hi everyone!  Got a plan update for you today.

The adirondack chair plans are my absolute favs!  I love how sturdy and comfortable they are, how easy to build and fast, and since it's all 2x4s for the framing, much less expensive.  I also love that the legs are a little more substantial (2x material instead of 1x material used on most adirondack chairs) so should be a little more durable and stronger.

Here's the shopping list -

  • 3 – 2×4 @ 8 feet long
  • 1 – 2×2 @ 6 feet long
  • 4 – 1×4 @ 8 feet long
  • 2 1/2”, 2” and 1 1/4” wood screws

Might I suggest splurging for cedar to decrease the maintenance and increase the weather resistance of this project?

We did a video on this project -

Enjoy and do share if you build!

Finishing Instructions
Preparation Instructions
Fill all holes with wood filler and let dry. Apply additional coats of wood filler as needed. When wood filler is completely dry, sand the project in the direction of the wood grain with 120 grit sandpaper. Vacuum sanded project to remove sanding residue. Remove all sanding residue on work surfaces as well. Wipe project clean with damp cloth.

It is always recommended to apply a test coat on a hidden area or scrap piece to ensure color evenness and adhesion. Use primer or wood conditioner as needed.

The links don't seem to work to the Home Depot site. Do you know where I could find a copy of the plans?
