Build a stand to hold buckets, pails or baskets super easy and quick like store displays. Plans by ana-white.com

Hi everyone, hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Ours was pretty quick as we had to travel 350 miles to a hockey tournament for Grace.

The roads were awful but we made it!

I'm a little sad that we are getting so close to Christmas, because that means our Handbuilt Holiday series will come to an end.

If you are new to the Handbuilt Holiday series, it's pretty simple.  Jaime from That's My Letter and I team up to get you a new gift plan each Friday in the weeks leading up to Christmas.  You can check out all the plans we've done so far (over the past few years) here.

I'm especially excited about today's project!!!  It is so darn simple.  But so effective and useful!

All else pails in comparision!

May I present the bucket shelf!

When my son turned one, a friend gifted him with some baby toys, but instead of gift wrap, she placed the toys in a bucket.  I was so suprised at how much our baby loved the bucket, and played with it.  Buckets are great for storing all sorts of things, from toys to produce to all things entryway and beyond!

This shelf designed for buckets (this bucket was used) is especially awesome because its so easy and inexpensive to build!  The frame is just 1x3 boards - that's all.  It doesn't get much cheaper or easier than this!

So you ready to make this?

Here's what to do -

- Go check out Jaime's build post with lots more photos and building tips

- Grab the free plans below (if this is the homepage you'll need to click READ MORE below)

Enjoy the plans!

General Instructions

Please read through the entire plan and all comments before beginning this project. It is also advisable to review the Getting Started Section. Take all necessary precautions to build safely and smartly. Work on a clean level surface, free of imperfections or debris. Always use straight boards. Check for square after each step. Always predrill holes before attaching with screws. Use glue with finish nails for a stronger hold. Wipe excess glue off bare wood for stained projects, as dried glue will not take stain. Be safe, have fun, and ask for help if you need it. Good luck!

Instructions

Step 1

Build two of the frames, they are identical. Use a scrap piece of wood cut at 45 degrees or a speed square to help guid placing the boards at 45 degrees. Attach with 1-1/4" pocket hole screws or 2" self tapping wood screws. Use glue at all joints.

Step 2

Attach the two frames together with 1-1/4" nails, staples or screws and glue. Place scrap board over sides, mark angles, cut and attach for additional support.

Finishing Instructions
Preparation Instructions
Fill all holes with wood filler and let dry. Apply additional coats of wood filler as needed. When wood filler is completely dry, sand the project in the direction of the wood grain with 120 grit sandpaper. Vacuum sanded project to remove sanding residue. Remove all sanding residue on work surfaces as well. Wipe project clean with damp cloth.

It is always recommended to apply a test coat on a hidden area or scrap piece to ensure color evenness and adhesion. Use primer or wood conditioner as needed.

I understand this was planned for a 10 qt/4 gallon bucket. Do you have any idea if 5 gallon buckets would fit? Or changes necessary? About how much more needed for heights?
Need something for ten 6 gallon buckets n five 5 gallon buckets. The 6 gallon is about 3 inches taller than the 5 gallon.
Thanks much! I know you posted this 5 years ago. 🙃
