Hello everyone, isn't this site wonderful?  I just finished my very first project, the kids country bench.  I am hooked now; I had so much fun!  I wanted to post a pic but it was too big.  Does anyone know how to shrink the size?  I'm not good with computer stuff.  I can't wait to learn more and do more!

Size may be the issue i am having posting to the site as well. It  always says no file uploaded when i attempt to submit a photo. I just looked at the file and it says 2.8 mb. Which does seem large. But i too am unaware of how to shrink the size of the file.Frown

Heya emc and chrisandpatience!  Here is how I shrink the size of my pics.

1. Open them in MSPaint, either by right lcicking the picture and clicking 'Open With' then MS Paint or by opening MS Paint then opening the picture.

2. Click on 'Resize', a small window will open with 2 sections, the top on resizes the picture.  Make sure 'Keep aspect ratio' is checked, that makes sure if you shrink the width, the height will change accordingly and vice versa, so it doesn't get distorted.

3. Change the Percent (it's easier to change the percent than the pixels, I have found, but it's up to you, try both and see what works for you).

4. Click 'File' then 'Save As' and save the file as a ddifferent name before you do any changes, that way you don't accidentally make your changes and then save the new picture overwriting the old one (and now have a much smaller picture instead of the nice big one).  If my picture is named CoffeTable.jpg, I will save the new one as CoffeTable_Small.jpg, that way I keep them straight.

5. Make your changes in small increments, a small change can make a big change in the file size, so start at 75%, save the file and check the new file size.  If it's still too big, change it again, maybe 60 or 50, depending how close it is to the file size you want and keep going until it's the right file size.

6. If you make a big change (say 50%) and it's too small, if you then try to make it bigger again (by changing it to 150%, say), it will be fuzzy.  Try it so you can see what I mean =).

I hope this helps.  It's really easier than it sounds, after you do it once or twice, it will be a breeze!

Thank you Thank you. I actually did it in Microsoft Office Picture Manager and changed it to 75%  as you suggested. I now have a project pic on the site. I am so happy

You can also use http://www.picnik.com to change the size of your pictures.  I like the site because it is easy to crop, resize and rotate pictures and you don't need an account.

Happy I could help =).  Those projects look great!  I really like the table in the middle picture and actually have a great spot for one like it here at my house...hehe.
