Where do you work?

I just checked out the workshop near my home. It's about two blocks from me.

As I have said before, I live in a 1 BR apartment 77 steps straight up, no space to store tools or build. :) this is the perfect time to pick up a new skill that involves such things!

But, i went looking for a workshop and tool library. My friend suggested a workshop where i could rent time, but then another friend mentioned this other workshop, even closer to my house, that is -- get this -- FREE! not only is the use of space free, and all the tools i could need there (and spare safety equipment), *but* they will train me to use the tools *for FREE!*

so i will have *free pallets* and *free workshop* and *free tools* and so, get this, i only have to pay for *glue and screws and paint!* i'm so excited i'm nearly beside myself.

i'm making arrangements with a couple of gals to go and make two crates each to get us started. hopefully, we'll go this weekend! :)

what about you? where do you work?

We have a 2 car garage that I have all our stuff spread out in! We will be moving next year and I'm already scared about what our next situation will be and if I'll have room to build!!

a friend of mine today gave me a tip: a lot of high schools have woodshops. if you call the school, they often have hours that the public can come (evenings) and do some work for free, and it often includes things like nails, screws, and glue, as well as a person to teach you to use the tools you don't know how to use, and often people just 'standing around' and willing to help!

i thought that was a cool option too! :D

I  LOVE how ingenious you all are!

My story is boring. (But effective)

I work at home.  I have a spot in the basement.  I bought a big roll of clear plastic with the hopes of making a little tent around my area so I stop covering the kids stuff with sawdust! I figured I could hang it from the floor joists with nails and thin wood spacers so the plastic won't pull out over the staples.  Problem is I can't work on anything over my head because of a physical problem!  LOL!  I might have to tell the kids how to do it so they can help dave their own stuff.  :)

Right now my wife and I work either on the back deck or in the basement family room - Oh, if only we had a garage that we could work in!  The joys of living in a townhome.   Haha!

I work in a small area of our garage.  It's not very roomy and I share it with bicycles, scooters, big wheels and spiders, but it works!  :)  I would love to have a basement to dedicate to projects!

Hmmmm.....  I did prime, paint and seal the low activity table in our dining room though...  It was so low to the ground that I wasn't sure how else to do it.  Setting it on top of our dining room table was perfect.  Ditto for the rolling carts.

I live in an appartment and don't have any workshop I can go to. So I have everything cut to size at the hardware store and I build on my balcony.

Scroll all the way to the bottom for the plan changes for the sofa.  I made changes to the arms and added an arm brace to make it look like the West Elm Emmet. You can see it on their site still I think.  If you want to make those changes, I could try to figure out how to draw it up or maybe Ana could do it for us?
