Hi! I built a play set for my kids while pregnant with dd #3.  I did the entire thing for $1050 I think and that included my Dewalt 12" Sliding compound miter saw.  I put together bids for the lumber from 3 local places and bought the cheapest/best quality from each to save $$ too.  This was in 2003, so I am sure prices have changed.  The really nice thing about this place is you can add sections as you want.  The price you pay for the download had all the plans in it.

This is the closest to the Rainbow Playset I could find at the time.  It uses screws and carriage bolts and not nails.  The construction was solid.  The biggest obstacle I found was the quality of the very long 4x4's.

Their swings and things are great too.  Definite quality.  I really wanted a tire but needed the second section even bigger and I couldn't get a 6'" x 4" that was long enough! So sad we don't have it now.  We were in the midwest on an acre lot.  Now we are in CO where there are a dozen houses on an acre.  Well, not that bad, almost.  At least I can look at foothills out my windows!  :)
