Modern Dining Table (West Elm Terra)

Hoping for plans for the West Elm Terra dining table. I know I requested it on facebook a couple months ago and you said you had just finished the plans, but I haven't seen them posted yet. Unless I missed them?

That looks just like a bunch of floating shelves put together as furniture.

I would love this one too, my husband looked at it and said it would be easy to draw up plans for, but to get him to do that will probably take too long for me:)

it reminds me of the desk she has--the one that knocks off CB2 i think it is. but she added storage. actually, storage in the legs/table would be great for linens and a good place to stash the silver. :D and extra candles and stuff.

go, ana, go!

I'm so happy to dig these plans out for you!  I've always meant to blog.  If you do build it, please send me photos, and I will blog the entire plan with your photo.  I highly recommend applying edge banding to exposed plywood edges and using a Kreg Jig to attach the top to the aprons and supports to hide screw holes if you are using a stain.  Also, you could use a finish nailer and color matched wood filler to attach the top to the aprons, and the holes would be very difficult to detect.  Paint would be amazing – a glossy red or a flat gray, yum!  Also, you may be able to use TOEKICK to finish the aprons :)  I believe standard toekick is 4 1/2" wide – would give you that veneered edge to match the plywood top.

This table is built entirely of 1x4s and 3/4" plywood.  Use veneered A1 plywood for the tabletop, pretty side up.  You can build with glue and finish nails, just make sure the legs are screwed from all directions to the tabletop with 1 1/4" screws.

An alternative method to build this table would be to use a hollow core dore with 2x2s as the aprons and the supports.  I don't like to work with hollow core doors, though – it's difficult to screw into them and I don't feel like the piece is going to last forever.  But definitly, a quick solution if you have a door laying around.

Good luck, please post photos, and thanks so much for requesting a project on our Community.
