Full Storage Bed

I have a question about the full size storage bed.  We have a relatively small 3 bedroom house.  Right now, one of the bedrooms my girls share and the other we use as a playroom.  I have been looking at Ana's site for ideas of storage to build, as well as building my girls new beds.

All of this is to say that I was looking at the plans for the full storage bed and wondering if it could serve a dual purpose.  My thought would be to build the three storage sections, and use them against the wall, seperately for toy storage.  Then when we have guests, we can pull them out into place, throw slats and a matress on top and we have a guest bed.

If we were to do this would there be safety concerns about not having the side units attached to the end unit?  Would the weight of the wood plus a mattress on top be enough to keep it stable?  If not, would there be a way to connect the units in that it could easily be taken apart and put back together?

Thanks for any insight!

It could be risky if the guests get frisky Surprised

I'd use a couple of bolts to connect the storage unit ends to the sides.
