Hi, my name is Guin (pronounced Gwen like Stefani :)) and I live in the suburbs outside D.C. with my husband MJ. We bought our first house a little over a year ago now and have been working on fixing it up, furnishing and decorating it since - we didn't have much furniture after all our tiny-apartment-living post-college, and what we did have was cheap Ikea stuff and tattered hand-me-downs.
Right now we're in the midst of building a false wall and tiling our mud room, but we also have a few (first!) furniture building projects we want to tackle once this project is done. A coffee table (I'm thinking the Mom's Lego Table because I love the storage) and side tables to go with our new couches in the family room, and shelves for our home office. Usually my husband is the "handy one" who tackles all of our home stuff, but I'm trying to get more into it myself and shed my discomfort with power tools and the fear of making a mistake and ruining a project.
