I was reading one of my regular woodworking blogs, and stumbled across a site that's a good compliment to this one: http://www.startwoodworking.com/
While it does have plans, it has a lot of basic technique articles too, so you can improve your skills to build Ana's furniture. It's mostly articles targeted at beginners (i.e. us) that have been published in Fine Woodworking or Popular Woodworking.
There's also a good project I'd recommend anybody look at if they decide they want to stick with woodworking. The "Rock-Solid Plywood Bench" is very useful. It was almost my bench, until I decided I wanted to work more with hand tools (which is better done with a different kind of bench).
