I keep reading about "wood filler". What is exactly is "wood filler"? If I make a mistake in a project such as mis-routing a dado, I will replace the missing wood with a strip of wood. Or if I do use a screw, which is very, very rare, I will plug it with a shop-made plug.

Wood Filler
It's a putty that is good for filling nail holes. Other uses are less well supported.
