Nailer vs Stapler: if you could only buy one.

In general, if you could only afford one at this time, which would you chose/use the most? A Brad Nailer, Finish Nailer or (Crown) Stapler?

Peronally I like the nailer. Nailers are more versatile because you can use both nails (varying lenghts) or staples. I find that building projects can go much faster when you have a nailer. Be sure to use glue where necessary, for strenght.

Home Depot has a set of 4 HDX nailers/stapler for $99 right now. Set include a 16 gauge finish nailer, 18 gauge brad nailer, 23 gauge pin nailer and a stapler. I bought this same kit earlier this year and have only had 1 jam out of about 2,000 nails.

There are two types of staplers. One is for engineered only. It uses small staples with a 3/8"? crown.
The larger stapler is much more substantial and has a 1/2" crown. It is designed for solid hardwood 1/2" and 3/4".
The cleat nailer is for solid only.
The large stapler and cleat are both NOFMA approved for 1/2" and 3/4" solid.
