As requested by you, here is how to scale the farmhouse bed to a full size.
A full size mattress measures 54" x 75", compared to queen 60" x 80"
This means we will have to trim 3" off either side of the center panels for the footboard and headboard. You must trim from either side to keep the panels centered, instead of just trimming off 6" on one side. This also means that all the trim for the headboard and footboard will be reduced by a total of 6".
This also means that the frame will be constructed 5" shorter. If you do not require a frame, than you will not need to make these revisions.

Fits Standard full Size Mattress

Cutting Instructions

Make sure you measure your board widths. This plan is designed for 1x8s that measure 7 1/2" wide. Yours could be narrower, changing the dimensions of your panel. The best bet is to build your panel, measure, and trim off ends as measured.

Tape Measure
Speed Square
Safety Glasses
Hearing Protection
Circular Saw
Brad Nailer
Power Sander

Step 1

This bed will be built identical to the queen.

Step 2

Construct as noted in the orignal bed plan shown here, except when the panels are complete, trim 3" off either side as shown below. I use a rotary saw and chalk line to get a good cut.

Step 3

As noted in the cutting instructions, measure and make sure that your headboard is the correct width - 54" and cut, instead of just cutting 3" off each end (as you would do in a perfect world).

I cannot access the link at your old blog to get the actual plans for this bed. It keeps redirecting me to the new site. Can you repost the farmhouse bed directions, please?

i absolutely can't wait for this summer. my father is going to build just the headboard part of this bed for my parent's queen sized bed. if all goes well, we are then going to attempt the entire bed for me :) mine will be a bit more complicated because i have a "commercial" mattress set, which is the width of a full/double, but the length of a queen. will post pictures whenever we get them finished. then on to a twin for my 3 1/2 year old daughter

Thanks for the plans. I built this bed and painted it over the last couple weekends. It ended up great. However, I could only find pressure treated 4x4 posts without spending a fortune, so I went ahead and used those. I will have to come back in a couple months and paint the posts after they have dried out. I am very happy with the bed, and my daughter loves it.http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/5610/bed1.jpg
