About 3 feet of 1x6 board (depending on tablet size)
About 5 feet of 1x2 board (depending on tablet size)
About 1-1/2 feet of 1x4 board (depending on tablet size)
Scrap dowel pieces for "feet"
Measure tablet or iPad and add approx 1/4" to allow the ipad to slide in smoothly. Then figure measurements as shown below
2 - 1x6 @ tablet or iPad width + 3-1/2" (top and bottom)
2 - 1x2 @ tablet or iPad width + 2-3/4" (cleats)
1 - 1x6 @ tablet or iPad height
1 - 1x4 @ tablet or iPad height
2 - 1x2 @ tablet or iPad width + 3-1/2" (front frame top and bottom)
1 - 1x2 cut to fit @ tablet or Ipad height - 1-1/2"
1 - 1x4 cut to fit @ tablet or Ipad height - 1-1/2"
Attach 1x2 to bottom 1x6 spacing so iPad or tablet can fit between 1x2 and edge. Also leave 3/4" gap on one side as shown. Attach with glue and 1-1/4" nails.
Repeat steps for the top, but attach 1x2 in mirror as shown in diagram.
Attach side to the top and bottom with 1-1/4" nails and wood glue.
Attach 1x4 to remaining side of ipad holder with 1-1/4" nails and wood glue.
I cut my dowel feet at 1-1/2" long and use 2" nails and glue to attach to the bottom of the ipad holder. I cut the nobs from scrap 1x material with a hole saw kit, sanded and attached with 1-1/4" nails and wood glue. The smaller knobs were dowel pieces.
