What does your son like to play?

I guess the dollhouse could easily be converted into a barn. That would fit the open construction even better than any regular house.

A barn would be a great idea! He says he wants to be a farmer when he grows up--lol.  I'm super new to this whole building thing. I am not very good at visualizing a new project and making up plans. Any specific ideas (other than just paint color) on how to modify this to make a barn? I am googling pics of barns to try to get a good visual going, but I'm not as crafty as other Ana-followers. :)

Color scheme, of course!

Make a divider for the first floor, paint the lines for tractor parking.

Cut a hole in the floor of the second floor so you can toss hay down to the cows.

Attach a stick with a pulley to the roof at the peak so you can haul hay up to the loft.

I would add a ladder to the hole in the second floor and make several dividers for the first floor. For tractor parking and as stalls for the animals.

Add fences.

Now I really want to build one myself. Unfortunately my toddler son doesn't play with his toy animals as often as he used to.

I made a barn out of the dollhouse.  My friend did the CAD work-up for it.  It's shown in my signature.  Maybe Ana will get it up here for you!

Carrie, I saw your barn dollhouse. I really love what you did especially how you changed the shape of the roof!

For a boy maybe not so many curvy eadges? I built a barn for my youngest a few years ago and plotted it all on graph paper. It was super easy to do and mostly straight cuts.

Got my supplies and getting started tomorrow!! I'll post pics when I get finished! (if I can wait that long!) :)
