We are so excited about have an organized way to store our lumber and scraps. We only had to purchase 4 2x4’s for this project and were able to use a lot of on-hand scrap pieces. The plans were so clear and easy to follow. Thank you for sharing!!
I made the farmhouse bed and patrick cottage dresser. This bed was so simple to make and looks great! I have step by step pictures on my blog.
Thank you Ana for you Fireplace design as it was exactly what I needed! We’ve lived in our house for 3 years now and I’ve wanted a fireplace ever since. Your plan was perfect and with a few modifications I made it come to life. My 9yr daughter as I was almost done building thought there should be a shelf for books and movies below the fire place. It gave me the idea of adding storage on the sides. I had already had the idea of the mantle storage and just used a floating shelf idea and made that. This was a lot of fun!! It took me a little over a week to build. But can’t wait to build something else for our house… like the mudroom!

That looks awesome! My husband and I are planning on doing this as well. I do have a question, as I see you have carpet just like us. Did you cut out the carpet where you built out, and if so how did you go about that, or did you just build on top of it?
This is a great way to double up on space & creativity! We added hinges and magnetic catches to the front so that the storage center can be turned around and opened to lay flat for access to the puppet theater.

Hi, I read you tweaked the plan and then did not know the dimensions of anything in the beginning. Have you gotten them since?
We built the chairs first using the Modern Outdoor Chair Plans found here on Ana White. We then modified the plans to make a 75" couch that fits 3-25" cushions. Both were super easy to build. We are very happy with them. We built the couch on the porch because it is very heavy when finished. Everyone loves them!
I needed a closet organizer for my daughter's room that could grow and change with her age. Right now it needed to have lots of shelves at her height to hold the massive amount of stuff an 8 year old can accumulate.
Once she transitions out of the toys, I plan on moving the shelves all to one side or the other for shoes, and adding another rod. Another possibility is shoes in the door organizer and 4 sections of hanging clothes...regardless, the end result has options that will grow with her!
I was able to keep the cost of this down because I used all scrap plywood to make the drawers. I did splurge in S4S pine lumber rather than trying to make rougher cuts nice.

Right now DD's room is a blank canvas. One of the first projects (after getting her window in) is to figure out the closet. I think this will be my inspiration!

A shocking notion. I think there's a box in our storage area with my wife's stuffed animals somewhere. Keep in mind, my wife isn't a 20-something who just moved out of her parents' house. We have a grand-daughter. Stuffed animals are forever. In fact I think one of my nephews still has my teddy bear.

The easiest way to do a quick drawer, if you don't know how to do dovetails (and that's a simple skill totally worth learning), is to drill holes through the sides and into the front, and pin it with hardwood dowels. Use a domestic hardwood, you'll be a better dowel and a dimension that matches drills you own. The cheaper white imported dowels don't match any drill diameters that I can find.

It says 65.5" wide on there, and I don't believe I made any changes, so that should be accurate. I think you could get away with having an approximately 46" wide closet. You could have the drawers in the middle and then 12" wide shelves on either side that would fit sweaters, jeans, shoes. If you made them adjustable like mine, then you could really maximize the space in there. Just make sure you give yourself plenty of room in front of the shelves if there is wall there--you want to be able to easily take things in and out.

My husband Jon recently built this playhouse with/for a friend of his from work. It took them two months to complete and it's awesome! Jon's friend is also a die hard Gators fan so they made sure to add blue and orange as much as they could. Thanks Ana for giving them the courage to take on such a feat!

I love the outcome of this project! I removed the old wire shelving and used 3/4 inch sanded plywood and few pieces of trim and pine to build this floor to ceiling custom closet. Then I primed and painted, and installed the clothes rods. Out of the frame are new recessed lights and a tile heated floor!

The plans were easy to follow, this was my first project and went off without a hitch!!
I purchased 24X24 foam for 9 dollars a piece and sewed waterproof material to cover them! It took probably took just as long to make the cushions than to make the actual sectional....but well worth it. I just couldnt find the right cushions ANYWHERE!!!

Try Costco! I got 24"x24" "floor" cushions (4-5" thick) for $20 a piece and back throw cushions 20"x20", 2/$15! They are a really nice quality and are labeled as outdoor cushions. Look at Thrift Inspirations' brag post as she has the same cushions I bought (different pattern.) I haven't posted yet because we're in the midst of building ours.

I Purchased the foam at a local fabric store,
And sewed around them. I actually folded the material
In half, and sewed two sides. I then measured and sewed the
Corners so that when inverted it would fit perfectly.
Then I had to closed each pillow sewing by hand... Hope that helped..

I got mine from Improvement Catalogs. They have a sale going on selling 28" x 22" x 4". I bought about 8 of them and theyre selling for $13.97 a piece. Its for exterior use obviously and mine havent faded in the sun. Ive had my cushions since February 2012.

If you have a Garden Ridge in your area, they had a nice selection of cushions and now that its season end they may be on sale right now! The cushions I used on my sectional I got from the Big Orange store and paid about $60 for a bottom and top cushion set. Very well worth the money! When it rains the water sits on top of the cushion and I just brush off with my hands and so far it has never soaked in, they still look new!
Loved these plans! Was my first project I tackled trying my hand with a new hobby of wood working to stave off quarantine craziness :-) finished project looked awesome and got me started working on other plans on the site.

Side table was just sanded and refinished, wasn't built just tried to match.
I used the armless chair plan, and altered the one armed plans to make two chaises. Then I increased the size slightly to accommodate the 25x25 pillows I bought. This took about 12 hours with one person working. I am super proud of it! Finished today, and will eventually stain after the wood has dried out a little. Thank you, Ana, for making straightforward plans that gave me the confidence to do my first woodworking project!

This was my first project from Ana's site. I wanted something simple and cheap to make, so all in all, this project was very simple.
I think I will paint instead of stain next time though as the quality of the wood I purchased from Home Depot wasn't the best.
Very happy with it though, and I'm planning on making more.
I honestly think Ana is a mind reader. Whenever I need plans for a particular piece of furniture, they magically appear on her site. Of course if she was a true mind reader, everything will be exactly as I need it requiring no modifications. That's what makes her plans so amazing. I can build bigger and better because I've learned to modify her plans to fit my current needs.
This Cart was no exception. I had to make mine a few inches deeper and change the height of the legs and it was a piece of cake. I put this together in less than 2 hours and finishing was easy too.

I built this at the Home Depot "Do it Herself" class last month. I have been trying to figure out something for a large ironing board (for yardage of fabric for quilting) for quite some time now. I decided this was PERFECT! I removed the top tray, and added a 2' X 4' craft board on top, covered it with insulbright and canvas and it's a perfect Ironging station!! I keep the ironing supplies underneath, and I have tons of extra storage space, it's WONDERFUL!
Combined Mimi's Storage Bence with the Shoe Shrine Shelf and came up with a what we really needed. I like how it turned out!
My very first furniture build! Took me about 5 days, but as a beginner I found it very easy to follow the plans. I did buy a Kreg jog for this project, highly recommend it! Other tools used were a miter saw, circular saw, and drill.
I modified the plans slightly to go taller so it could fit a standard propane tank. I also added a hinged lid based on an image I found on Pinterest that did something very similar. I still need to sand and stain it next weekend.
Like others, I had a little trouble keeping the fence planks from splitting when screwing them to the 2x2 legs, since there was about an 1/8” gap between. I tried to find some scrap to fill in the gap and didn’t overtighten the screws. The lid was made entirely of 1x3”.
This sandbox has been around for some time BUT it is still a great project to build The plans were simple to follow and would be an excellent project for beginners. We built this for our grandson and future grandbaby. Was easy to complete in one day, including painting

I knew I had to make this the first time I saw the plans! It was super easy to make, I will definitely be making more of these. :)
I used duck cloth for the sling and embroidered a nautical design on the front.
We built these before we saw these plans, but they are pretty much the same... We added the chicken wire to keep the rabbits (and our dog) out of the garden. We added the owl to keep the birds out. We've gotten a ton of tomatoes, onions, and bell peppers so far. Next year, we'll add a few more beds. We also added the verticle garden to take up less space, but its not deep enough. We'll make the next one deeper.

We ended up getting a ton of tomoatoes and green peppers from the garden boxes. We've actually built a couple more. We'll probably double again before next spring. We're looking at adding more veggies.
We now have ton of stuff planted for the fall...

Came across this beautiful design while searching for my next diy garden idea. Wondering if there are blueprints available
My grandaughter and I built the super simple bed and modified the Hailey planked headboard. We used common douglas fir from Home Depot. The finish is equal parts Minwax cherry and early american with 3 coats of Minwax wipe on poly with a light sanding with 220 grit between coats. Total cost was about 250.00.
