We picked up a couple 14.9" square plastic garden planters from Home Depot and ended up creating some wood planter boxes from pallet wood for them to sit in. 

I didn't add up the cost of these boxes, because we had most of the wood and only needed a few pieces, but I'd say they were definitely less than $10 a box. 

We altered our dimensions to fit our HD planters so they would slip in for a snug fit and made the legs flush with the top of our sides. We build a simple frame for the top, which allowed the lip of our HD planters to sit firmly on top. 

Something I didn't do, but wish I did: fill in the cracks with wood filler.  There were a couple places that really could have used it, but I was in a rush and decided to skip it.  They turned out great, but could have been even better had I taken an extra 30 minutes.  On an off weekend, we are going to use wood filler in the seams, sand them down, and do a second coat of white paint. 

Can't wait to plant these with some mums for Fall! :)

I followed your idea but i think my bench is a touch smaller. I decided to add arm rests on each end, I kept the top beverage ledge or "Bever-ledge" as I call it and ofcourse I added rope lighting along the underside. This was my first ever DIY project.

I used the main plan for ideas, but opted to use 3.5 inch pickets instead, which allowed for a smaller planter that wasn't as big. Also chose to miter 1x3s for the top which I think really finishes it off. Sanded everything with a belt sander to 220 grit. Used min wax golden pecan plus three coats of poly inside and out. Finished size was about 17x17. Tile spacers work great to keep the gaps even!

My friend's daughter's both love American Girl Dolls. I have made them the bunk beds and the Farmhouse bed. But they really wanted a couch. I made them one using some of the elements from the Farmhouse Bed. I used a blue paint with a pickling whitewash stain on top.

I did have a hard time getting a good photo of the finished project.

These two Number 1 shelves (or maybe it's one Number Eleven shelf!) were built for Christmas gifts. I left the backs off so the wall color shows from behind.

I used a 1x8 10' for each shelf, and adjusted my measurements as instructed. Also, the plans had to be adjusted slightly to make the project fit together properly. I'll put the changes I made in the comment section to help others. This was an extremely simple build and went together quickly. They were great gifts! Thank you for the plans.
